My art practice, a little part of me
My canvases are all reclaimed from op shops, rescued from the crowded racks of discarded artworks. They’ve lived previous lives — once cherished, now forgotten — nestled among timber frames and stretched fabrics that once held value in someone’s world.
I see my work as little personalities — each one gently welcomed into my home, given a warm bath, their scars mended, and dressed anew in garments sewn from the window curtains of my heart. They sit on these gallery walls like small windows in a pet shop, gazing out at passersby who pause to stare, wondering if any of these strangers will find them pretty, the right colour, the right size. They try, in their quiet way, to make eye contact — hoping someone will stop just long enough to fall in love. To take them home, to a painted wall and a new family, maybe a pet, and the comforting scent of dinner cooking in the background.
I’d love to hear If any pieces connect with you.
